Harbor Businesses Open During Construction

SHEET PILE WORK TO BEGIN MONDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2017

Coastal Protection Structure

Work is progressing quickly now that construction of the coastal protection structure has begun. Much of the excavation for the structure has been completed. Sheet piles are incorporated into the design of the structure in the area closest to the Harbor parking lot. The sheet piles will be driven into the Purisima Formation to a depth of two feet in some areas. The sheet pile operation will begin on Monday, October 16, 2017, and is expected to last for two to four days. Driving of sheet piles may produce increased noise and vibrations in the area.

Parking

Parking within the construction zone is permitted only in the four stall parking area on the north side of East Cliff Drive. Please observe all construction area signage.

All parking in the Twin Lakes area is included in the Live Oak Parking Program. Please visit http://www.dpw.co.santa-cruz.ca.us/Home/ParkingPrograms.aspx for more information about the program.

General Project Information

Many visitors continue to enjoy the Twin Lakes Beach and Harbor areas. For everyone’s safety, please use caution when moving through the construction zone, obey all signage, and please share the road.

We appreciate the public’s patience during the construction process and look forward to the completion of the improvements in spring of 2018. The completion date is subject to change due to weather or other conditions.

All Harbor businesses will remain open during construction.
